Season Summary

13 / 06 / 2018 - Winners And Loosers

Congratulations to Holyhead Town on being crowned Champions of the Gwynedd League and completing the double by beating Bro Goronwy in the final of the Meditel Cup.
Bro’ themselves had another good season by finishing runners up in the league, winning the Bob Owen Memorial Shield by defeating Nefyn Utd in the final, and as mentioned, loosing finalists in the Meditel Cup.
Gwalchmai captured the first silverware of the season by defeating Nefyn Utd in the Safeflue Shield and Nefyn Utd made it third time lucky by getting their hands on the NWCFA Junior Cup by beating Bontnewydd after extra time in the final.
The end of season presentation night was held recently at Bar Bach and even though it was a very underachieving season, many positives were mentioned during the evening.
Team manager Gethin Green made it official that he was stepping down from his role and made it clear that he was ready to get back playing after a three-year absence due to a hip operation. He can with no doubt be proud of his achievements whilst at the thick of the action and the club also made it clear how thankful it was to Gethin for taking charge during his rehabilitation. (from injury not drugs and alcohol!)
Another injured player in Dafydd Parry has taken over from Gethin to take the managers post next season. Dafydd was Gethin’s assistant last season and has years of experience as a player at this level. He is looking forward to the job in hand and has already appointed Rhodri ‘Figo’ Owen as his right-hand man. Both are now busy preparing pre-season with details to follow in the next few days.
Individual winners were as follows:
Top Scorer. Meurig Parry (17)
Most M.O.M. Ioan Gwynedd (skinny)
Most Improved Player. Ben Jones
Players Player. Rhys Davies
Managers Player. Shaun Roberts
